meStuck inside your house? Of course you are. We all are. Unless you are an essential employee. But even if you are you still have to keep fit and strong to maintain your health.

You may ask, “How can I do that? The gyms are all closed.” I’m here to tell you that you don’t need a gym to keep fit. You already own the best gym machine in the market. Your body.

There are many exercises you can do in a reasonably small place. You just need some imagination to use your muscles for good and not evil…Muhahahaha!!!…Sorry wrong blog.

Simple calisthenics are a great way to keep fit. I did push ups for years as a major part of my workout regime. I used to do double claps between push ups. I went for three but almost broke my wrists. Hey. Every person has their limits.

Jumping jacks, sit ups, squats, calf raises you can also put water in empty milk jugs and put a broom stick in the handles and do some biceps curls or shoulder presses. Remember that your imagination can be used to create your own workout program.

Maybe you already have a stationary. bike or a cross-trainer machine to use for a cardio workout or maybe have a few dumbbells laying around. Even better.

Now these exercises wont necessarily build muscle, but should make it easier to maintain muscle, unless you start this way then of course you should notice changes in your body.

You might lose a few pounds and/or lose and few inches and get a tighter body. Isn’t this the reason why most of us begin to work out? With a few more tools you can sculpt your body to your liking. Just remember this is not a program that stops when you reach your goals. It’s a lifestyle change.

I have basic workout tools in my home gym. I have a few sets of dumbbells, grip strengtheners, push up bars, a stationary bike and some bands. Its clearly quite basic and bought them all through Amazon.com. I am an Amazon Prime member so the shipping was free…That was most important when buying my weights.

My tools are basic but do the job just fine when I cant get to the gym. Just like now since we are all in self quarantine. I really hope this ends on April 30th. Otherwise I may lose it.

Work out at home. You currently have the tools at your disposal.  If you want buy a few tools. They are not that expensive, actually quite inexpensive.

Just start a program. Most of you aren’t going anywhere for a while. Get your blood pumping and elevate your dopamine levels up. You just  might lay the seed for a lifestyle change.

Enjoy working out at home and give your mind a rest from the bad news crashing our lives. If you can start with a 30 minute workout, good. If you can last an hour, even better.

  1. This article is especially useful because we are in a difficult time and most of us are isolated in the house.
    I go to the gym for about 7 years and I miss this activity the most. Because I have to stay at home I try to do more and more exercises to keep me in good shape.
    As you said, it is a good idea to put water in empty milk bottles and do squats or calf raises. I also do a lot of exercises for my upper body like push-ups or traction on the bar.
    My advice is to be optimistic, to play sports and soon everything will be back to normal.

Personally, I love to go to the gym when I really need to make use of particular equipment, but aside that, I love to work out at home and it’s really cool doing my thing in my own.

I have always liked going to the gym not only because of training but also because it’s a place to have a little chat with friends. I probably talk to much. But now being stuck at home, your post has encouraged me to use my small home gym. 

    1. I used to only workout at the gym too. But my schedule didn’t always match my gyms’. So I got some basic tools for my home. Good luck on your home workouts.

  10. Yes… you’re right! 

    Something I’ve done is including my daughters in my training routines. The 8 years old one loves to exercise with me and at the beginning, I had a hard time keep her peace jumping cords, just 15 days away from the starting day I’m proud to say that we’re getting even!

    After this experience, all of us will emerge changed and is our individual responsibility any changes we may get, being for good!
